Step 1: In order to install Homebrew on your Mac you need to have Xcode installed. If you have full Xcode already, then proceed to the next step. If you don’t and you also don’t want to install full Xcode on your Mac, then you can also download command-line tools for Xcode instead by running the following command in Terminal.

Hey Guys! In4mer here with an awesome tutorial!

As most of you know, Pokesav and PokeGen cannot be run on Mac OS X. But, they actually can. This is how i am able to use them flawlessly on my MacBook:

What you need:

  • An Apple Mac Computer:

(iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air)

  • An Intel Processor
  • Mac OS X Software 10.4 or Later, Mac OS X Lion is preffered (Mac OS X 10.7)
  • X11
  • Wine/WineBottler
  • Pokesav or PokeGen

Step 1:

First of all, check and make sure your Mac has an Intel Processor. You can do this by clicking on the Apple Symbol on the very top left of your screen. Then, click on “About This Mac”. Look at the Processor. If you see the word Intel, you can continue.

Step 2:

Download the version of Pokesav or PokeGen you wish to use. I downloaded both Pokesav and PokeGen.

Step 3:

Download WineBottler Combo here: WineBottler Combo

You should see a package appear on your screen. Click on it. Then, get through installer and copy Wine and WineBottler to the applications folder.

Step 4:

If you are running Mac OS X Tiger, Download X11 here: X11

Step 5:

Open the Pokesav/PokeGen you downloaded. A screen should pop up that says: You Are About to Open a Wine File. What would you like to do with it? Select “Run Directly in Users/-NAME-/WIne Files . Then, the program should work. After your Pokesav/PokeGen loads, close it and reopen the Pokesav/PokeGen. The You Are About to Open a Wine File screen will pop up again. This time, select Convert to Simple OS X Application Bundle with Winebottler and press Go.

Step 6:

Then, you should reach a screen that says “Install File” on the top. Select all the check boxes and then click Install on the bottom of the screen.

Step 7:

After the installation is complete, move Pokesav/PokeGen to the applications folder. Next time you open them, you will see that they will open up, and can be used flawlessly! You can also use them anytime. This method can be used to make ANY Windows application into a Mac application, just follow the same steps and install the application you want instead of Pokesav/PokeGen.

Thats All!

PKHeX forMac

PKHeX is a save editor for core-series Pokémon games. With it, users can manipulate various save files including: .sav, .dsv, .dat, .gci, .raw, and .bin types. PKHeX can also read and write: .pk files, which are individual Pokémon files, and .pgt, .pcd, .pgf, .wc, which are Mystery Gift files.

PKHeX for Mac is a Mac OS App that was made using Wineskin. Thus, it is not a port of PKHeX. Using Wineskin, we can recreate an environment where executable files will run on Mac OS. All features from the original program should work in this app.
